When Cannes was a small fishing village, most of its buildings were concentrated in Le Suquet, now the Old Town of Cannes. Climb to the top of Suquet hill for outstanding views and a visit to Musée de la Castre, an 11th century castle-turned museum housing antiquities and 19th-century paintings. The Promenade de la Croisette is now the heart of Cannes, running parallel to the sandy beach and shimmering blue bay. Laden with exclusive boutiques and gourmet restaurants along its famed two-kilometres, this area is certainly a must to see-and-be-seen. For a mix of rugged scenery, culture and history, head inland to discover a pocket of cobbled towns and hilltop villages with perfumeries, legendary art museums and Michelin-star restaurants.
