Villa Summary
- Complimentary Pool Towels
- Sea View
- Alfresco Dining Facilities
This historic Quinta, constructed in 1871, underwent restoration in 1999 after being in ruins. With its remarkable vistas of Funchal and the sea, the rooms are spacious, bright, and luxurious. The lush gardens surrounding the property are filled with palm trees, camellias, fragrant climbers, avocado trees, and vibrant bougainvillea. Similar to other traditional villas in Funchal, this house peacefully sits on the hillside along the Caminho do Monte, just below the renowned wicker toboggan run. From here, one can enjoy breathtaking views of the town and bay of Funchal, with the sea stretching beyond, while relaxing by the heated swimming pool. The expansive terraces in the well-maintained gardens and around the pool are perfect for sunbathers. Alternatively, if you prefer shade, there are various trees providing ample coverage. The gardens and terraces are furnished with sun beds, chairs, tables, parasols, and a Weber BBQ.
As you enter through the conservatory, you will find a sophisticated lounge and dining area, complete with an open log fire for cozy winter evenings. French windows open up to the gardens and heated pool, creating a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The kitchen and breakfast room, with a laundry room located behind it, lead to a BBQ area and a shower/WC for your convenience after swimming or sunbathing. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms: one double en-suite, one double, and one twin, along with a second bathroom. The kitchen is fully equipped with a breakfast table for six, a gas hob, an electric oven, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, and a microwave oven. Additionally, there are coffee machines, a toaster, a cafetière, as well as crockery, cutlery, glassware, and cooking/serving utensils available. There's even an adjacent annex for the convenience of the 7th and 8th guests.

Resort Description
Madeira’s capital Funchal in the south is renowned for its warm climate and natural beauty, where flowers bloom all year round in the shelter of the verdant mountains and the magnificent blue Atlantic Ocean laps the coastline. Whether you prefer lounging on the beach or sightseeing, there’s plenty to do during a villa holiday in Funchal. The Lido complex is one of the most notable attractions featuring a large solarium, two salt water pools and access to the sea. For more choice of beaches, walk 25 minutes to Praia Formosa for a handful of black sand and pebble stretches.
The island is famous for its gastronomy so you’ll find stylish tapas, hidden local gems, farmers markets and plenty of wine-tasting tours. A wealth of history is on your doorstep – look out for the beautiful 15th-century cathedral, a plethora of art and culture museums and even a statue dedicated to Madeira's famous former resident, Cristiano Ronaldo!
Celebrated for its exquisite floral displays, there are six public gardens worth admiring and a Flower Festival takes place every year, two weeks after Easter. Traversing the man-made irrigation channels known as ‘levadas’ is a must but if you aren’t keen on walking, take the cable car up to see the beautiful views surrounding the capital. The city may be relaxed by day but after the sun sets, chic cocktail bars and music venues come alive in the marina and DJs keep the crowd going until the early hours at the downtown discos and clubs.
